                                              2012  - The Diakonos Retreat Society $10,000

                                              Picture
Few people will know or experience the world of hurt that Peace Officers, Fire Fighters, Emergency Services & Military personnel face in their day to day role of protecting our society. The sights, sounds & situations that they face each day on our behalf takes a toll on their families & themselves. This is why the Diakonos Retreat Society began in 1997 & continues to exist today. Diakonos Retreat Society is a non-profit charitable organization that was founded in 1997 to serve and strengthen Peace Officer and Emergency Services and their families. They do this proactively through their programs and events as well as reactively through their three Diakonos houses where they provide shelter in a time of crisis.

                                              2012 - The Calgary Firefighter's Benevolent Fund $10,000

                                              Picture
Firefighters suffer a much higher number of injuries and illnesses than the average population as a result of their frequent exposure to hazardous materials, and difficult, dangerous, stressful working scenes and conditions. In addition, most firefighters will experience a significant number of health-related issues in their retirement and have a shorter life span than the average population. Treatment is often expensive and difficult for families to manage.  To support firefighters, retirees and their immediate families in times of sickness and distress, the Calgary Firefighters Benevolent Fund (CFBF) was established by a group of retired members of the Calgary Fire Department.

                                              Picture
Support for the Alberta Children's Hospital helps provide kids with the best family centred care possible right in our own community. Through the generosity of our donors, such as CCMS, we are able to provide funding for family centred child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment and advanced pediatric research and education at the Alberta Children's Hospital.
